January - what a busy start to the year...
Well we've started 2011 as we finished 2010...very busy!
January saw the completion of the University Centre Blackburn College generic video...
...as well as Blackburn College 6th Form video.
I've also had a couple of days filming at Arla Foods in Settle ready for a video that I'm producing for them and then I teamed up with Graham Baldwin to put together a quote for a charity video for the Federation of Jewish Services in Manchester.
January also saw some more bookings for weddings in 2011 - so all in all it's been a great start to the year.
We've also moved across to an electronic diary having invested in an Apple Mac Pro and an iPad at the end of 2010. Must say I'm loving both...and have found it such a bonus being able to sync up all the calendars for the Mac, iPad and PC via Mobile Me...even to confirming appointments with clients when I add it straight into the iPad calendar. If I wasn't a gadget freak before I certainly am now...and yes Steve (Ashton Photography) I agree Macs are the best!
Julie has also been busy setting up a new Facebook page for our weddings (ABC Video Weddings) which is now separate from our corporate Facebook (ABC Video Facilities Ltd) page. Gradually over the coming months we will start to fill it up with snippets from the various weddings that we produced last year and also look forward to some of the ones in the diary for 2011. The corporate page we'll keep up to date with all the other work we do. So if you want to keep up to date with what we're up to then use the links in the side bar and follow us!

Got a soaking....
Sunday might have been dry in Leyland but at the 2010 National Supermoto Championship Calendar race at Blyton Raceway in Lincolnshire it chucked it down... and despite a waterproof jacket me and the camera were somewhat wet by the end of it. It's not a very pleasant experience driving back in wet trousers... Took the rest of the evening to dry off all the gear ready for another day of filming today. At least the rest of the week I'm editing in the dry!

It's been a while....
The summer has all but gone and I haven't written a post since last winter...
There's a lot to catch up on, but for starters I've been doing a lot of work for Blackburn College filming short videos for their website for each of the departments.

Finally finished...
The epic Beaverbrooks Conference edit...which included over 30 hours of footage to be edited down to 4 x 2 hour DVD's. This was once again an edit of mammoth proportions and came straight after the 2 days of filming we did for it. In fact, day 1 filming was 15 hours long...so much so that my 2nd cameraman on the day, Graham had to go for a lie down when the delegates broke for their evening meal!
And the work keeps rolling in...as I'm working through this weekend to author all the discs for Beaverbrooks and get them duplicated ready to drop off on Sunday and then on Monday it's straight into filming another job...
This next job (in partnership with Graham at Vision4Video) is a DVD about Race Hate Awareness...so quite an emotive topic. We have been commissioned by Preston & Western Lancashire Racial Equality Council to produce the DVD which will see us out filming all next week. So busy, busy, busy... and hopefully once the filming for this is finished I'll be able to finish off the wedding I started at the beginning of January... It's a funny old business this...jobs seem to be like buses...they all come along at once!

Blackburn College
Another busy month has just passed and I thought I'd post a quick blog before I become immersed in the Beaverbrooks Conference from tomorrow.
I've just finished a promo DVD for Blacburn College, Hair, Beauty and Hospitality and I am really please with the final results. It took a while to get the project under way - mainly due to the weather at the start of Jan but we finally got there and this is the end result...

A Week in the Studio...
This week so far has been spent editing and visiting clients to finalise details for some upcoming projects.
The edits have included a promo for Blackpool Tower (via Keeley Duffy PR) using some of my own footage as well as some footage from their archives. I actually started this project just before Christmas so it was nice to get it finally finished...
I've also edited some footage for Glasgows from an NHS conference that was filmed in London a week or so ago. Another edit was for MTJ Associates for their client Sutcliffe Play. Again this was editing some of their own footage shot on a little hand held camera at an event they exhibited at.
And finally I'm also editing some of my own footage from a wedding I filmed last year at Gibbon Bridge. It was a lovely wedding just a shame that it rained all day...but still the footage is looking good and I must admit one of my favourite wedding edits was from a wedding filmed up at Dunsop Bridge in the middle of August (a few years ago) when it was just torrential rain for the whole of the morning...but the DVD was fab - even if I do say so myself!

How much snow?
Well it has certainly made for an interesting week. Appointments cancelled or rearranged, kids schools closed, snow ball fights, sledging...and there is more on the way! Okay, I think the novelty is wearing off now...can we just go back to the rain. I know, I know I'm being a party pooper but you have to admit we are just not prepared for this sort of weather and it it seems to cause all kinds of problems when we get it. Roll on summer...

Happy New Year!
What a year 2009 was - here's hoping 2010 is as good.
Apologies for the lack of posts during the last month but it has been very busy. We have managed to produce approximately 1000 DVD's during December for various schools and nurseries and I can honestly say that really it took some doing!
A great big thank you as well to Steve and Steph from Ashton Photography who gave up some of their free time to come and help us cut up DVD covers and duplicate some of the discs. It really was appreciated guys!
How the time goes as well - it was this time last year that we actually started our blog and it has been really great being able to share some of our stories throughout the year - the work we have done, the places we have been, the people we have filmed - from Charles and Camilla at The Gathering to Jamie Archer at the Preston lights switch on, it's been an amazing year.
2010 is already looking good with the diary nearly fully booked for January, February and March - you really do have to ask 'What recession?' how much is real and how much is just press hype...
So here's to a happy and successful 2010 for everyone and hopefully lots more blogs of what we are up to over the coming months...
